About Legacy Tours
Legacy Tours and Travel has been a tour operator of LDS tours and LDS travel since 2010. Although not exclusively for those of the LDS faith, many will find like-minded companionship in fellow travelers on our tours. These tours are often considered unique, controversial, or explorative. We strive to provide LDS tours that are Educational, Recreational, and Spiritual. We love combining knowledge with adventure and enlightenment. We do not claim these controversial and unique ideas as opinion or fact, but rather, we offer a space for exploration of ideas and use of the Spirit to indicate to each traveler what is tradition and what is reality.

Legacy Tours Team
Mark and Jill Clifford started Legacy Tours in 2010. They have a passion for travel and love sharing this with others.
Mark has traveled throughout Europe and the United States, including studying abroad in Russia. Mark has been involved in Real Estate since graduating with a BS in Psychology and a minor in business from BYU.
Jill has also traveled throughout Europe and the middle East, including studying abroad in Austria, Czech Republic and Israel. Jill taught High School English after graduating with a BA in Humanities from BYU.
Mark and Jill have 4 children, two of which are married, and one grandchild. They live in Bountiful, Utah. Besides traveling abroad they also love to hike, read, and explore the beautiful state of Utah.
Kris was a former co-host of the “Liberty Moms” Radio Show & Podcast, she now serves on the Advisory Board of John Adams College. She is the former President of the United Women’s Forum and former Board Member of the Thomas Jefferson Center for Constitutional Studies. Her love of her country and its founding documents are very important to her.
Kris also loves to travel, seek truth, and explore history in person. She has spent the last 13 years studying ancient history, ancient religion, and the Egyptian Hermetic Traditions. Kris has studied and traveled with Dr. John Hall, retired professor from BYU, Freddy Silva, Allysha Lavino and Kathleen McGowan. The tours that she guides are unique because of the influence she incorporates from these other researchers and authors.
Kris is married to Dave, they are proud parents of 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren. Kris enjoys teaching her grandchildren the rich history of America and the importance of Jesus Christ in their lives. For 8 years she served as a Gospel Doctrine instructor in her local church, she loves teaching and testifying of Jesus Christ in the classroom and on the Tradition Tours.
Erika has worked in the Legacy Tours office since 2023. She has handled much of our website, social media, marketing, and reservations. She and her husband, Liam, have led several tours to the Dominican Republic & Church History sites. Additionally, Erika has helped to manage tours in Europe and the Middle East, including Apostle Paul: Greece & Istanbul, the Best of Italy, & Ultimate Holy Land (Israel & Jordan).
Liam and Erika enjoy traveling around the world, including living in a van in the United States when they are not on tours.
Our Guides
Rod L. Meldrum is a researcher, best-selling LDS author, and international lecturer on the validity of the Book of Mormon. His emphasis is based on scriptural and physical evidences of the Book of Mormon. His book titled, “Exploring the Book of Mormon in America’s Heartland” is the #1 LDS book about Book of Mormon geography, with over 40,000 copies printed. He began guiding the Book of Mormon Chronology Tour in 2018.
Rod has also written a book titled “Prophecies and Promises: The Book of Mormon and the USA.” This book outlines the 36 prophecies and promises that clearly identify the United States as a location of the “Promised Land” of the latter-days. This book has been called a “stunning” new insight on geography research and provides historical evidence that documents containing Joseph Smith’s words, writings, and actions were consistent with the prophecies and promises of the Book of Mormon.
Rod began his study of issues surrounding the controversy over DNA and the Book of Mormon back in 2003. This sparked his study of the origins of proposed geographical settings of the Book of Mormon. In addition, he has spent years of intensive study of the Book of Mormon itself and the historical background and documents associated with it. He is passionate about sharing his research of the Book of Mormon Chronology with others.
Rod and his wife, Tonya, have 4 children as well as 4 grandchildren and reside in Utah.
Mike Day grew up in Modesto, California. After his mission in Chicago, he met his wife, Sonia, at Weber State University. Their familiy has grown to include four sons, their wonderful wives, and treasured grandchildren.
Mike co-hosts the podcast Talking Scripture, and makes regular appearances on the Stick of Joseph channel as well. Mike firmly believes that the Book of Mormon is exactly what it claims to be. He has a deep appreciation for the complexities of the Bible and finds great fulfillment in exploring its original languages and ancient cultural contexts with others.
Mike is passionate about teaching scripture and has been an instructor for Seminaries and Institutes of Regligion since 1993. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Utah in World Languages and Cultures, Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies, with an emphasis on Classical Greek and Biblical Hebrew.
Mike has led tours to LDS Church History Sites, the Holy Land, Italy, and Greece, with an upcoming tour to Turkey in June 2026.
Luther S. Palmer (Scott), also known by his YouTube channel as Watcher Palmer, loves Israel and the Middle East. Always looking for Christ in all things, Brother Palmer is a student of the Scriptures, and is always looking for Signs of the Second Coming of our Savior.
Brother Palmer and his wife, Suzanne, have traveled and visited extensively in Israel. They both love the culture and the people. They presided over the Salt Lake City West Mission from 2015-2018, and presided over the Park City Stake from 2025-2014.
Having 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 2 dogs, they are always busy, yet looking for another adventure. They feel blessed to know so many wonderful people they have met on their journeys.
Dave Butler is not an academic. He has been a lawyer, consultant, corporate trainer, and a registered investment banking representative. He is now a Consulting Editor for Baen Books and part-owner of a business that designs bespoke elearning.
Dave takes the position that the Book of Mormon is an ancient document and also that the Book of Mormon is a work of temple literature. The Nephite prophets were members of an esoteric lineage that wrote for an audience that they expected to possess eyes to see and ears to hear, and the intended way to understand the meaning of their writings is to read through the lens of our own temple experience.
He embodied his early thoughts in this vein in a pair of short books, Plain and Precious Things and The Goodness and the Mysteries, both self-published under the pen name D. John Butler. More recently, he published In the Language of Adam.
Dave plays guitar and banjo whenever he can, and hangs out in Utah with his wife, children, and the family dog.
John Bytheway was born and raised in Salt Lake City, and he served his mission in the Philippines. Following his mission, he attended the University of Utah and later graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree. He was awarded a master’s degree from BYU in Religious Education.
John has taught the Book of Mormon at Brigham Young University and the BYU Salt Lake Center since 1996. He is the author of more than two dozen books and CDs, many of which, he says are “effective non-prescription sleep-aids. John and his wife, Kim, have six children and a completely SUV, which doubles in value when it’s full of gasoline.
Bron is an accomplished engineer, innovator, and technology leader. Early in his career, Bron developed the flagship security product at Live View Technologies (LVT) based in American Fork, and saw his product reach over a billion dollaras in market share within a few years.
Bron was Chief Engineer at LVT for several year before moving into leadership within the company’s software and technology. More recently, Bron has shifted his focus to the Entertainment industry, serving as Technical Product Manager at Angel Studios.
A growing interest in the life-work of his late uncle, Glenn Kimball, has led Bron into a collaborative effort with two of his family members to research and write a book series on deeper aspects of the life of Jesus Christ. These include ancient texts that validate His mission, the actions of his closest family and followers, and the struggles of Christians closest to his original message.
The Kimball trio includes Bron, his brother Ben, and their mother Pamela. Uncle Glenn was a life-long researcher and popular radio show guest and lecturer on ancient manuscripts and religious texts. Bron has since become fascinated by the surprising ways in which both the ancient theologies and newest scientific discoveries can unite with religion today to teach us about the world we live in, and God’s plan for us.
He and his wife, Sydney, are the proud parents of four.
A Note from Bron:
My mother, older brother and I are writing a book series detailing evidence that Jesus was known around the world in a very deep antiquity, and that there is evidence of places he may have traveled during his lifetime.
These discoveries bring to life patterns found in the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and even the ancient Bible. The Celtic and Gaelic peoples of ancient Britain were no strangers to the Gospel for a millennia before Christ was born in Bethlehem, and were among the most devout and energetic converts when the Gospel landed on their shores.
Hidden Series:
Jeff Loveridge is from Salt Lake City and the brother of Kim Bytheway He served his mission in South Korea and graduated from the University of Utah. After he graduated, he was blessed to meet his amazing wife, Natalie, and together they became parents to three fantastic kids.
Following a brief period as a Jr. High history teacher, Jeff returned to his passion for teaching the Gospel found during his years serving as a missionary and working as an EFY counselor. Ultimately, he transitioned to employement with the Church’s Seminaries and Institutes program. Now, 20 years later, he has taguht in all settings, including two summers at the Utah State Prison. He has since received his Masters in Education to better his teaching abilities.
Jared Lambert is a historical linguist specializing in the Hebrew Bible and the ancient Near East. A former U.S. Army linguist, he worked as a supervising linguist over sacred materials for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, working directly with temple-related content. He holds seven degrees in higher education focusing on linguistics, history, and religious studies and is currently completing a PhD using historical linguistics.
His work focuses on diachronic language development and how translation, symbolism, and later theological frameworks reshape earlier biblical traditions, emphasizing on covenant, priesthood, temple theology, and the Divine Feminine. Through his platform Veiled Roots, Jared teaches courses that break down the linguistics of scripture, helping modern readers engage the text with greater historical and linguistic precision. He also creates public-facing content under @JRichardLambert.
